Cone Clamping Elements FAQ
Is it possible to use Cone Clamping Elements on hollow shafts?
Yes. However, it is imperative that the shaft material can safely absorb the occurring stresses. These stresses can be calculated with our online calculation tool.
Are Cone Clamping Elements also available in sizes different from what is shown in the catalogue?
Special dimensions can be realized for larger quantities. For smaller quantities, slotted adapter sleeves may be used to bridge the gap between the special diameter shaft and the Cone Clamping element. It is imperative however, that the stacked total (sum) of all tolerances, are still in line with the specifications from the catalogue.
Are RINGSPANN Cone Clamping Elements also available in Stainless Steel?
Some elements are available in stainless steel upon request. Please note that the Stainless Steel elements will transmit approximately 30-60% less torque than the equivalent standard steel element (depending on series and size).
What is the max. permissible bending moment?
As a ballpark figure, the following max. bending moment values can be used (expressed in % of catalogue value for transmissible torque):
- RLK 40x / 40x TC: | 40% |
- RLK 235 TC: | 65% |
- other series: | 25% |
In what temperature range can Cone Clamping Elements be operated?
Cone Clamping Elements can be operated at temperatures between -20℃ and +100℃ without any restrictions. Please contact us, should you require to use the elements at higher or lower temperatures.
What runout accuracy can be achieved with RINGSPANN Cone Clamping Elements?
As a rule, a true running accuracy of the hub to the shaft of 0.02 to 0.04 mm can be achieved. Two exceptions are the series RLK 200 and RLK 300. With these series the hub must be centered to the shaft in accordance with the specific requirements of the application
The hub is smaller than specified in the catalogue. What can I do?
It is possible to reduce the pressure on the connecting components (and as a consequence the resulting transmissible torque) by reducing the screw tightening torque (max. reduction: 30%) or the number of clamping screws. The respective calculations can be made with our online calculation tool.
At what max. rpm can Cone Clamping Elements be operated?
A general statement about max. permissible rpm unfortunately is not possible, since this is mainly determined by the hub design (the higher the centrifugal forces, the more impact on the function of the Cone Clamping Element). Please contact us for applications with high rotation speeds.
